The Door

This fine old stone barn, with its door's reflection mirrored in a puddle after a summer's downpour, is typical of many fine buildings surrounding the Tythe Barn in Abbotsbury.
Abbotsbury, situated about halfway along the Jurassic coast at the start of the Fleet, is famous for its swannery and sub-tropical gardens.
The swannery on the Fleet, sheltered by part of the 17 mile long Chesil Beach, has been a haven for a colony of mute swans for some 600 years.
Chesil Beach itself runs from West Bay to Portland, with the Abbotsbury stretch in 1943 being the scene for testing the Barnes Wallace Bouncing Bomb, of Dam busters fame.
